Business English Certificates (BEC)
Introduction
To succeed in international business and commerce, you need a good knowledge of English. If you can show that you have relevant language skills, you will have a great advantage in the jobs market at home and much greater flexibility if you want to work abroad.

The Language skills you need
BEC assess all four language skills- listening, speaking, reading and writing – in a business context.
Studying for BEC will help you to improve your language skills and to learn to use them in business. While you are preparing for the tests, you will be learning and practicing the skills you will need when you use English in real business situations.
Because the tests are based on realistic business tasks, a BEC certificate proves that you can actually use the language not just that you know about vocabulary and grammer.
A Test to suit your needs
BEC is available at three levels – BEC Preliminary, BEC Vantage and BEC Higher- so you can choose an examination that matches your level of English language skills and your professional needs.
BEC is suitable for people aged 16 and over who are either preparing for a career in business or are already in work.

BEC Preliminary
  Prepares candidates to interact effectively while carrying out routine business transactions e.g. speaking to clients over the telephone, writing brief letters, making appointments.

BEC Vantage
  Assesses how candidates can conduct and take part in meetings and teleconferences using skills of negotiation to put across a point of view. Ability to draft letters, memos, minutes of meetings and topics for presentation using appropriate business vocabulary and format. The certificate has a wide acceptance amongst corporates for employment. Some employers treat this certificate as an essential selection criteria for employment.

BEC Higher
  Assesses proficiency in the use of English for making presentations, negotiating effectively in the promotion of products and services, and in engaging in extended conversations with clients at meetings and seminars.The certificate is a sought –after qualification by employers especially if they are looking for English trainers.

A Certificate that Opens Doors
If you pass BEC you will receive a certificate issued by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, showing the grade you have achieved.
You will also receive a detailed statement of results showing how you performed in each skill.This can be extremely useful for study further.
BEC is taken by over 60,000 people a year in more than 50 countries, and the number of candidates grows every year .This means that the certificates are increasingly well known throughout the world.
BEC is used by hundreds of employers, either as part os their staff development programme or as a qualification that they look for when recruiting staff. Many universities and colleges in English-speaking countries and elsewhere accept BEC Higher as evidence of a sufficient level of English to complete business-related courses in English .
Examination Structure
BEC tests the complete range of language skills that are needed by professionals in business environments.It is an internationally recognized exam that tests English language competence.
The four communication skills viz.Reading,Writing,Listening and Speaking are tested with each of them contributing 25% of the total marks.
The results for BEC Preliminary are awarded based on the aggregate marks gained in the four papers indicated above.All candidates are provided with a statement of results, which includes a graphical display of the cnadidate’s performance in each skill. All successful candidates will receive a certificate from University of Cambridge.

  Filled in application form.
  One passport-size photograph.
  Photocopy of a photo-identity document (passport,driving license,identity card etc.)
